Second business number

A second business number, without a second phone

PingMate gives you a separate Australian mobile number for your business that rings the phone you already carry. Customers call and text the business number, your personal number stays private, and you never need a second phone, SIM or app. It costs $39.90 a month and includes missed call text back.

How one phone handles two numbers

Calls to your PingMate number forward to your mobile and show your business number as the caller ID, so you can tell a customer from a personal call before you answer.

Texts to your business number arrive in your PingMate web inbox, which works in the browser on your phone. You can also get a copy of each customer text as an SMS alert. Reply from the inbox and the reply comes from your business number.

Why keep business calls off your personal number

  • Your personal number stays with friends and family, not on ads, signage and online listings.
  • You can set opening hours. Outside them, business calls skip your mobile and go to voicemail, while personal calls still ring.
  • The number belongs to the business. If you hand enquiries to someone else, change the mobile it forwards to and the number customers know stays the same.

More than a plain virtual number

A basic virtual number forwards calls and stops there. PingMate also handles the calls you miss: it takes a voicemail, sends you a summary by SMS, and can text the caller back with an AI-written or saved reply.

Setting it up

Choose your number when you sign up, add your mobile in Settings and turn on call forwarding. Then start handing out the new number. Your existing mobile number stays exactly as it is for the people who already have it.

What it does not do

  • PingMate gives you a new number. It cannot port in a number you already have.
  • If you reply to a forwarded text from your phone, the reply comes from your personal number. Reply from the PingMate inbox to use the business number.
  • Each account has one login.
  • Outbound calls. PingMate handles calls and texts coming in to your business number.

Common questions

What phone number do I receive?

You receive a new, dedicated Australian mobile number, generally beginning with 04 and subject to availability. Customers can call or text it like a normal mobile number. PingMate does not currently port your existing number.

Do calls still ring my existing mobile?

Yes. When call forwarding is enabled, calls to your PingMate number ring the mobile number you choose. You can set how long it rings. If you do not answer, the call continues to your PingMate voicemail.

Can customer texts be forwarded to my phone?

Yes. You can receive an SMS alert on your mobile with the customer number and message. If you reply directly from your phone, the reply comes from your personal number. Reply through the PingMate web inbox when you want it to come from your business number. To keep evenings and days off quiet, you can pause alerts outside your opening hours and get one roundup text when you open instead.

Can I port my number or make outbound calls through PingMate?

Not currently. PingMate provides a new business mobile number for incoming calls and texts. Number porting and outbound calling are not part of the current service.
